Netflix India Lists 2020 Dragon Quest Anime; Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Compilation Film, Season 2

Netflix is listing the first season of the 2020 anime of Riku Sanjo and Kōji Inada's Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai (Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken) manga for release in India on April 30. The company is also listing Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Sustainable War (Kōkaku Kidōtai SAC_2045 Jizoku Kanō Sensō), the compilation film of the Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 anime's first season, for release in India on May 9. Additionally, Netflix is listing the second season of the Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 anime for release in India on May 23.

The Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai anime premiered in October 2020 and is ongoing. The show's seventh cours (quarter of a year) will debut in Japan on April 30.

Kazuya Karasawa (Dragon Ball Super episode director, Dragon Ball Super: Broly storyboards) is serving as series director at Toei Animation. Katsuhiko Chiba (Rune Soldier, Baby Steps, Tiger Mask W) is supervising the series' scripts. Emiko Miyamoto (Maho Girls Precure!) is designing the characters. Ayaka Fujii (Studio Pablo) is the art director. Yuki Hayashi is composing the music. Aya Mori is in charge of color design. Dragon Quest series director Yuji Horii is credited for supervising the original manga. Toei Animation is producing the anime, which is a hybrid of CG and 2D animation.

The original 37-volume manga ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1989 to 1996. The manga previously inspired a 46-episode anime series that aired in 1991 and 1992, and three short anime films that opened in July 1991, March 1992, and July 1992.

The Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Sustainable War film opened in Japan on November 12 for a limited two-week screening run in 20 theaters. It will release worldwide on Netflix on May 9.

The second season of Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 will premiere worldwide on Netflix on May 23.

Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki are again directing the project at Production I.G. and Sola Digital Arts. Russian illustrator Ilya Kuvshinov (The Wonderland) is returning as the character designer. Nobuko Toda (Sweetness & Lightning, The Case Files of Jeweler Richard) and Kazuma Jinnouchi (Busou Shinki: Moon Angel) are composing the music. Toda is best known for composing the music of the Metal Gear Solid series alongside Harry Gregson-Williams, and Toda and Jinnouchi collaborated on the Ultraman anime. The pair also composed the soundtracks for the Halo 4 and Halo 5 games.

Masamune Shirow is once again credited as the original creator of the Ghost in the Shell manga, and the returning scriptwriters are Kamiyama (Eden of the East, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex), Ryou Higaki (The Eccentric Family, Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit), Kurasumi Sunayama (Yowamushi Pedal, Gurren Lagann), Harumi Doki (Ultraman, Cyborg 009 Call of Justice), Dai Sato (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Samurai Champloo, Eureka Seven), and Daisuke Daitō.

Daiki Tsuneta's millennium parade project is performing both the opening theme song "Secret Ceremony" and the ending theme song "No Time to Cast Anchor." Tsuneta's creative label PERIMETRON is also producing the opening sequence, and millennium parade members Shū Sasaki and Yūhei Kanbe are directing the opening sequence. Flying Dog is producing the music, and Sony Music Labels is collaborating on the theme songs.

The first season debuted on Netflix worldwide in April 2020 with 12 episodes.
