Sony Statement Clarifies Reason for Different PS4 Price Points in India

Maximum retail price remains unchanged

The Indian video game news website The Mako Reactor reported on Thursday that Sony has clarified the reasoning behind the different price points for the PlayStation 4 console in India, after the website reported on Wednesday about retailers offering several different price points. Sony India clarified that the different price points are all promotional offers on the PlayStation 4 1TB Mega Packs, and are not a result of an official price change on the PlayStation 4 Slim and the PlayStation 4 Pro consoles.

Indian retailers listed several versions of the PS4 1TB Mega Pack at Rs. 27,990 and several other PS4 bundles were listed with discounts as the government loosened lockdown restrictions in the country. Amazon India and Reliance Digital listed the Fortnite Mega Pack at 27,990.00. Prepaidgamercard listed the Fortnite Mega Pack and the Grand Theft Auto V Mega Pack at Rs. 27,990.00.

The Sony India spokesperson clarified to The Mako Reactor that Sony India's website lists the PlayStation 4 Slim at Rs. 29,990 because that remains the maximum retail price for the console in India.
