Square Enix to Release Sanrio's New Show By Rock!! 2D Rhythm Game App in 2020

The "Show By Rock!! 3969 Grateful Rock Festival" announced on Sunday that Square Enix will release a new smartphone rhythm game, Show By Rock!! Fes A Live. The game will feature 2D animation of familiar characters from Sanrio's character project Show By Rock!! as well as the new characters from the simultaneously announced television anime Show By Rock!! Mashumairesh!! The game's official website has begun pre-registering players, and the game will be free-to-play with in-game item purchases.
The first bands that will appear in the game are Plasmagica, ShinganCrimsonZ, and Mashumairesh!!!!
Sanrio launched the original Show By Rock!! game, developed by geechs, for iOS and Android in 2012.
The first Show By Rock!! television anime series premiered in April 2015, and Funimation streamed the series as it aired in Japan. Funimation then released the series on home video in December 2016. A series of spinoff shorts, Show By Rock!! Short!!, debuted in July 2016, and Funimation streamed the series as it aired.
The second anime season, Show By Rock!!#, premiered in October 2016, and both Crunchyroll and Funimation streamed the series as it aired. The franchise has also inspired several musicals.
Kinema Citrus is animating the Show By Rock!! Mashumairesh!! series for a January 9 premiere, after a December 31 preview airing of the first episode.
