Genma Taisen Rebirth Manga Enters Final Arc

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Project ARMS' Kyoichi Nanatsuki launched manga in August 2014

Manga creator Kyoichi Nanatsuki revealed last Friday that the Genma Taisen Rebirth manga entered its final arc as of its 61st chapter on Friday.

Nanatsuki's manga is based on the 1967 classic manga series Genma Taisen (Genma Wars) written by Kazumasa Hirai with art by Shōtarō Ishinomori.

The original manga's story begins with Princess Luna of Transylvania, who has a vision while traveling to America on a goodwill mission. A life form of pure energy named Genma that destroys everything in its path is heading toward Earth. To save the planet, she must assemble psychics to confront Genma. She partners with an alien cyborg named Vega who once fought this menace before.

The original manga inspired a film adaptation in 1983 that Central Park Media released under the title Harmagedon in North America. Media Blasters also released the 2002 Genma Taisen spinoff television anime in North America.

Genma Taisen Rebirth launched in Shogakukan's Club Sunday magazine in August 2014. Shogakukan published the manga's ninth compiled book volume on March 18.

Nanatsuki and Teppei Sugiyama's Tantei Zeno to Nanatsu no Satsujin Misshitsu (Detective Xeno and the Seven Locked Murder Rooms) manga recently ended in this year's 33rd issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine on July 17.
