4-Member Male Vocal Group mono palette Perform Opening Theme for The Morose Mononokean Anime's 2nd Season

2nd season premieres in January

The official Twitter account for the four-member male vocal group mono palette revealed on Monday that the group will perform the opening theme song "Long Time Traveller" for Fukigen na Mononokean Tsuzuki (The Morose Mononokean Sequel), the second television anime season of Kiri Wazawa's The Morose Mononokean (Fukigen na Mononokean) manga. The song will be the first time the group is performing a song for an anime. The song will serve as the group's first single, and the single will ship on January 2.

The anime will premiere in January.

Itsurō Kawasaki (Magical Girl Ore, Rental Magica, Shining Hearts, Tsukiuta. THE ANIMATION) is directing the season at Pierrot Plus. Takao Yoshioka (Ikki Tousen, High School DxD, Your Lie in April) is returning to handle series composition. Mizuki Aoba (Minna Atsumare! Falcom Gakuen SC) is replacing Atsuko Kageyama as character designer.

Hiro Shimono and Kōji Yusa will play the new characters Shihō and Gyōsei, respectively. The new characters are two of three influential individuals in the world of the yōkai.

The first television anime season premiered in 2016, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan. Funimation released the series on home video in January. Crunchyroll describes the anime:

"Exorcism" is the art of sending yokai who have somehow wandered into the living world back into the underworld, where they belong.

One day Hanae Ashiya, a high school student who's been haunted by a yokai, happens to find the contact information of an exorcist called the "Mononokean" and pays him a visit. The exorcist he meets is a morose-looking young man, Haruitsuki Abeno, and for various reasons Ashiya ends up working for the Mononokean...

And so the story of the exorcist duo Ashiya and Abeno, and the yokai they meet in their adventures, begins.

Wazawa launched the manga in Square Enix's Gangan Online web manga site in 2013, and the 11th compiled book volume shipped on June 22. Crunchyroll is publishing Wazawa's original manga digitally in English. A stage play adaptation of the manga ran at the Akasaka Red Theater in Tokyo in September 2016.
