Shōjo Manga Creator Akino Mimura Passes Away

School Days, Densetsu no Shōjo manga creator debuted in 1977
The official Twitter and Facebook pages of shōjo manga creator Akino Mimura announced on Monday that Mimura passed away on Monday at 11:12 a.m. JST (10:12 p.m. EDT on Sunday). She was 60.
Mimura revealed on Twitter on June 25 that she was hospitalized. She made her final tweet on July 27.
Mimura debuted with Watashi no Risō no Anata Sama in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōjo Friend magazine in 1977. She is best known for her School Days and Densetsu no Shōjo (Legendary Girl) manga. In addition to Bessatsu Shōjo Friend, Mimura's works ran in Kodansha's Me, mimi, and BE・LOVE magazines.
