Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple Film's Southeast Asian Opening Dates Revealed

Odex to screen film in the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia

Various local Southeast Asian film distributors revealed the premiere dates for Odex's screening of the Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple anime film last week. CGV Cinemas Indonesia is listing a May 9 opening for Indonesia. SM Cinema is listing a May 9 opening for the Philippines. Singaporean cinema chain Golden Village is listing the film with a May 31 opening in Singapore. Cinema Online is listing a July 5 opening in Malaysia.

The film opened in Japan on March 3, and earned 78,002,000 yen (about US$740,000) to rank #7 in its first weekend. The film earned a cumulative total of 214,721,808 yen (about US$2.01 million) by its second weekend.

The movie is inspiring a manga adaptation.

Takuya Igarashi returned to direct the film at BONES. Yoji Enokido returned to write the film, in collaboration with original manga writer Kafka Asagiri. Nobuhiro Arai returned as character designer and chief animation director, Fumihiro Katagai was the mechanical designer, and Taku Iwasaki returned to compose the music. Kadokawa Animation distributed the film.

GRANRODEO, the band that performed the first television anime's opening theme song, returned to perform the opening theme song for the film. Luck Life, the group that performed the ending theme songs for both anime seasons, returned to perform the film's ending theme song.

Most of the cast members returned from the television anime, and Kazuya Nakai joined the cast as Tatsuhiko Shibusawa.
