Special London Code Geass Film Screening March 20

posted on by Andrew Osmond
Screening at Odeon Haymarket cinema entitles customers to A3 poster and discount voucher for eventual Blu-ray release

Tickets are currently available here for a special London screening of Code Geass - Hangyaku no Lelouch - Kōdō on Tuesday March 20, a day before the other screenings of the film on Wednesday March 21.

The Tuesday screening is at the Odeon Haymarket cinema near Piccadilly Circus station, and will entitle ticketholders to an A3 poster of the film; an art card; and a voucher discount code entitling the buyer to one copy of the film on Blu-ray upon its UK release, from the alltheanime.com website.

The release date and contents of the Blu-ray have not been confirmed yet. Only 45 places are available at this event.

The film will be released under the title Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion I – Initiation. It will be in Japanese with subtitles, and run 135 minutes.

The film is the first of a cinema trilogy that compiles the original Code Geass and Code Geass R2 series, with some new footage. Anime Limited comments, 'We have acquired the rights to all three films, we don't know if there will be an opportunity to bring the second and third films to the cinema – it's too early to tell and there will be many factors to weigh up as well.'

It will be screened in Showcase Cinema, Cineworld, Vue and ODEON cinemas around the UK & Ireland. Venue details are being given at this website; more screening venues may be added in the coming days.

Anime Limited describes the story of the film:

In a world dominated by the Holy Empire of Britannia, most of the globe has been conquered and forced into submission by this behemoth of a superpower. Japan, now renamed Area 11 after its defeat at the hands of the Empire, continues to harbour pockets of seemingly futile resistance that seems powerless in the face of the might before them. Enter Lelouch Lamperouge, an exiled Britannian prince hidden away under a false name in Area 11 – harbouring a deep hatred for the empire which has forsaken him, he grabs the chance to fight back when a mysterious power known as “Geass” is bestowed upon him, and begins working from the shadows to bring Britannia to its knees as the faceless leader of Area 11's resistance.
