Aniplus Asia Adds Shimoneta Anime to On Demand Service

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Anime based on Hirotaka Akagi's light novel series premiered 2015

Aniplus-Asia announced on Wednesday that it will add the SHIMONETA: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn’t Exist anime to its video-on-demand service for Singapore this month. Aniplus-Asia did not previously simulcast the anime through its television channel in Southeast Asia.

The anime's story is set 16 years after the "Law for Public Order and Morals in Healthy Child-Raising" banned coarse language in the country. Tanukichi Okuma enrolls in the country's leading elite public morals school and is soon invited into the Anti-Societal Organization (SOX) by its founder, Ayame Kajō. As a member blackmailed into joining by Ayame, Tanukichi ends up taking part in obscene acts of terrorism against the talented student council president Anna (on whom Tanukichi has a crush).

The anime premiered in Japan in July 2015. Youhei Suzuki (The "Hentai" Prince and the Stony Cat.) directed the series with series scripts by Masahiro Yokotani (Free! Eternal Summer, Riddle Story of Devil) at J.C. Staff. Masahiro Fujii (The Pet Girl of Sakurasou, Hayate the Combat Butler, The Familiar of Zero) adapted Eight Shimotsuki's original character designs. Akiyuki Tateyama scored the music with the production label Starchild. Jin Aketagawa directed the sound, and GENCO produced the anime.

Hirotaka Akagi launched the original light novel series with illustrations by Eight Shimotsuki in 2012, and ended the series with the 11th volume in February 2016. N' Yuzuki launched a manga adaptation in Mag Garden's Monthly Comic Blade magazine in 2014, and ended it in 2015.
