posted on by Andrew Osmond

On Monday October 30, Anime Limited will release A Silent Voice as a Collector's Blu-ray/DVD Combi Pack (pictured), as well as separate Blu-ray and DVD editions. (For buyers who have ordered the combi edition on the AllTheAnime site, shipping has been delayed until at least November 20, but the combi edition should be available in retail stores.)

Naoko Yamada and Kyoto Animation's anime film is based on Yoshitoki Ōima's manga of the same name. Crunchyroll described the original manga's story:

I wish we had never met. I wish we could meet once again. A boy who can hear, Shoya Ishida, and a transfer student who can't, Shoko Nishimiya. One fateful day, the two meet, and Shoya leads the class in bullying Shoko. But before long, the class shifts its target from Shoko to Shoya. Years later, Shoya feels strongly that he must see Shoko once again.

The film earned 2.3 billion yen in Japan, and was the 19th highest-grossing film released in Japan in 2016.

Manga Entertainment will release Dragon Ball Super Season 1 Part 1, on both Blu-ray and DVD, carrying the first 13 episodes of the series. In Japan, Dragon Ball Super premiered on Fuji TV in 2015, and was the first new Dragon Ball television series since Dragon Ball GT, which aired from 1996 to 1997. The story of the anime is set a few years after the defeat of Majin Buu, when the Earth has become peaceful once again.

Akira Toriyama is credited as the original creator, as well as for "original story & character concepts." Toei Animation's Kimitoshi Chioka (Hakaba Kitarō, Kamisama Kazoku) is the series director, and Naoko Sagawa (Yomiko Advertising, Inc.) and Atsushi Kido (Toei Animation) join Osamu Nozaki as producers. Kido entered Toei just as the company was animating the Dragon Ball Z anime's Frieza arc. Masako Nozawa, the voice of Goku, Gohan, and Goten, is returning for the series.

Manga is also releasing the first 52-part season of Pokémon - Indigo League as a Blu-ray and a DVD. (Pokémon - Indigo League is the American arrangement of the original 1997 series of Pokémon.)

Anime Limited is releasing Castle Town Dandelion on Blu-ray and DVD. Funimation previously described the anime:

The Sakuradas are a perfectly normal family living in a perfectly normal apartment. Except that their father happens to be a king, making them all royalty. And they're watched by over 200 surveillance cameras and are kind of their own reality show! There's also the fact that each sibling has their own special power. The nine Sakurada siblings have a common goal to become king! But only one can hold the throne, so they must compete to win the hearts and votes of their people.

The 12-episode anime premiered in July 2015. Noriaki Akitaya(Bakuman., BONJOUR Sweet Love Patisserie) helmed the series at Production IMS (Inari Kon Kon, The Testament of Sister New Devil, Gonna be the Twin-Tail!!). Reiko Yoshida (Non Non Biyori, Bakuman., You and Me.) handled series composition, and Shinpei Kobayashi (Aldnoah.Zero, Inari Kon Kon) adapted Kasuga's character designs for animation and served as animation director. Kasuga previously designed the characters for the Gonna be the Twin-Tail!! anime. The anime is based on Ayumu Kasuga's four-panel manga of the same name.

Funimation will release Fairy Tail Part 19, carrying parts 213 to 226 of the series.

Manga is also releasing a Blu-ray/DVD combi edition of Katsuhiro Ōtomo's blockbuster steampunk adventure Steamboy. In the story, Ray is a young inventor living in Mancheter in the middle of the 19th century. Shortly before the first ever Great Exhibition, a marvelous invention called the "Steam Ball," behind which a menacing power is hidden, arrives at his door from his grandfather. Meanwhile the nefarious O'Hara Foundation has sent men to acquire the Steam Ball so that they can use its power towards their own illicit ends.

Anime Limited will release a standard Blu-ray edition of the film Empire of Corpses. The film adapts the zombie steampunk novel of the same name by the acclaimed late author Project Itoh. Funimation described the story:

From the studio that produced Attack on Titan comes a captivating historical action thriller based on an award-winning novel by Project Itoh. In an alternate version of 19th century London, the world has been revolutionized by “corpse reanimation technology” creating armies of undead who serve the living as laborers across the globe. In an attempt to revive his dearly departed friend, young medical student John Watson becomes obsessed with replicating the work of Dr. Victor Frankenstein—the legendary corpse engineer whose research produced the only re-animated corpse to possess a soul. But when his illegal experiments put him at odds with the British government, Watson is drafted into a worldwide race to find the lost research notes of Victor Frankenstein before the secrets of the human soul fall into the wrong hands.

Anime Limited will also release a standard Blu-ray edition of Lord Marksman and Vanadis on Blu-ray. The titular Vanadis of Tsukasa Kawaguchi's fantasy series are beautiful girls who ride into battle, brandishing weapons received from dragons. There are seven such Vanadis who rule seven territories and instill fear in neighboring countries. A boy named Tigre is a minor noble in the kingdom of Buryūnu who encounters a Vanadis in battle. She is the silver-haired, red-eyed "silver fraulein" Ellen. She defeats him, but instead of killing him, she takes him prisoner.

Anime Limited will also release a standard Blu-ray edition of the series Psycho-Pass 2, the sequel series to the original SF/horror Psycho-Pass. Having learned the true nature of the Sybilla System, Akane Tsunemori has learned the true nature of the Sybilla System and chose to obey the system, believing in both humanity and the legal order. She's part of a new police section and spends her everyday life facing down criminals. Unbeknownst to Akane, however, a monster who will shake the system to its core is about to appear before her.

Naoyoshi Shiotani (Blood-C: The Last Dark) returned to direct the series alongside season 1 composer Yūgo Kanno (Gundam: Reconguista in G), but Tow Ubukata (Fafner, Mardock Scramble) handled series composition with Jun Kumagai (Persona 4 the Golden Animation) writing scripts. Tatsunoko Production replaced Production I.G as the animation production studio.

Anime Limited will also release a standard Blu-ray edition of the series Tokyo ESP. Hajime Segawa's original science fantasy manga begins with Rinka (Ibuki Kido), an extremely poor high school girl who lives with just her father in modern Tokyo. One day, she is going home from school when she chases a "flying penguin" to the top of New Tokyo Tower — only to have "fish swimming in the air" suddenly appear before her. One of the fish goes through Rinka and gives her extraordinary powers beyond those of normal humans, particularly the ability to slip through solid objects.
