Game Maker Voltage Establishes Vol Pictures to Develop Films, Anime

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Company previously established new "Anime and IP Division" earlier this year

The Japanese romance app game company Voltage Inc. announced last Thursday that it has established a new wholly-owned subsidiary named Vol Pictures. The new subsidiary will be formally established on October 2 with a capital stock of 30 million yen (about US$267,330). Vol Pictures will work on planning, development, and sales of film, anime, and television series adaptations of its parent company's properties. Voltage, Inc. founder, CEO, and Chairperson Yuzi Tsutani will also serve as Vol Pictures' president.

Voltage, Inc. established a new "Anime and IP Division" on May 1. The company established the division to capitalize and expand on the company's existing properties in terms of selling merchandise, creating stage play and anime adaptations, releasing publications (such as manga or novels), and hosting events.

Yuzi Tsutani founded Voltage, Inc. in 1999. The company released its first English localization of one of its romance mobile apps in July 2011. The company then established its Voltage Entertainment USA subsidiary in May 2012.

Aside from localizing romance apps from Japanese into English, Voltage also creates romance apps specifically for the Western market, as well as "suspense apps" that are intended for a male audience. The company is also starting to create works using AR and VR technology.

Voltage released the Hana Yori Dango - F4 to First Kiss (Boys Over Flowers - First Kiss With the F4) romance app based on Yōko Kamio's Boys Over Flowers manga in July 2015.
