Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Hacker's Memory Unveils New Characters, Battle Modes
posted on by Karen Ressler
Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe revealed a new character named K for Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory on Friday. K (pictured below) is a "mysterious hacker" who "wants to chase the criminal who is hunting for your account."
The company also confirmed the return of character Jimmy Ken (below), leader of the hacker group "Demons."
The game's official website also unveiled new character Chitose Imai (name reading not official), deputy leader of the hacker group "Hoodie," and returning character Nokia. Chitose is shown with Ankylomon and Nokia is again shown with Agumon and Gabumon.
In addition, Bandai Namco Entertainment detailed some of the battle modes. "Rank Battle" will have predetermined rules and rating points, "Event Battle" will have rules that change every two weeks, and "Free Rule Battle" will let players invite up to eight friends and set their own battle rules. Players can earn coins from Rank and Event Battles and spend them on online mode accessories for the Digimon and player character.
Video game news website Gematsu has additional screenshots of K and Jimmy Ken, Digimon accessories, and more Digimon at its gallery. The same information and many of the same visuals were also revealed in this year's September issue of Shueisha's V Jump magazine on Friday. The magazine also teased that the "Victory Uchida" character from the previous game will be voiced in the new game. Famitsu has screenshots of Chitose and Nokia.
The Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita game will ship in Japan this year, and will be available in the West in early 2018. The release will feature the original Japanese dub and English and German subtitles. The game will be available physically and digitally for the PS4 and digitally for the PS Vita.
Like the first Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth game, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory will be a "raising RPG" that takes place in the real and digital worlds. The game will tell the story about the "other side of Cyber Sleuth," set in the same setting as the first game, and where at some point Dagomon will appear in Odaiba. There will be more than 320 Digimon that can be raised in the game.
The game features a new protagonist who dives into the world of hackers after he is branded a criminal for an incident he has no memory of. His name, which can be changed, is Keisuke Amasawa (Bandai Namco Entertainment also spells his last name as Amazawa).
The new game will share some maps from the previous game, but will add 30 new maps for a total of 90 maps. The game will ship with the original Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth game included, which will be the first time the game will be released on the PS4 in Japan.
