Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma Anime Gets 3rd Season This Fall

This year's 30th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is revealing on Monday that the Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma anime is getting a third season that will premiere this fall. The issue reveals that the anime is titled: Shokugeki no Sōma: San no Sara (Food Wars! The Third Plate). The new anime will follow the battle against the Council of Ten.
The issue also reveals the third season's first key visual. The visual features Sōma Yukihira, Erina Nakiri, Azami Nakiri (Erina's father), Eishi Tsukasa (Council of Ten first seat), and Rindō Kobayashi (Council of Ten second seat).
The announcement also reveals the following returning cast members:
- Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Sōma Yukihira
- Akira Ishida as Eishi Tsukasa
- Shizuka Itou as Rindō Kobayashi
- Rie Kugimiya as Momo Akanegakubo
- Kana Hanazawa as Nene Kinokuni
- Yūki Kaji as Terunori Kuga
The 25th volume of Yūto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki's original manga series will ship on July 4, and the manga will bundle an original anime DVD (OAD). The OAD will feature some of the members of the Council of Ten for the first time in the anime.
Tsukuda and Saeki's manga previously inspired two television anime series. The first anime season aired for 24 episodes from April to September 2015. Crunchyroll streamed the first anime adaptation as it aired in Japan, and Sentai Filmworks licensed the series for North America. Sentai Filmworks also licensed Food Wars! The Second Plate, the second anime season. The 13-episode series aired in July-September 2016, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired.
The 24th volume of Tsukuda and Saeki's manga also bundled an anime on DVD when it shipped on May 2.
