The July issue of Akita Shoten's Champion RED magazine revealed more details for the planned manga featuring DC Comics characters by Shiori Teshirogi on Friday. The manga is titled Batman and Justice League, and features Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Cyborg, Green Lantern, and Aquaman. The story will feature the Justice League heading to Gotham City to protect the world from the Joker and an alliance of super-villains. The manga will launch in Champion RED's next issue on June 19.
DC Entertainment (DCE) president Diane Nelson and publisher Jim Lee announced the manga in March in a presentation for media and business partners in Japan. A major theme of the presentation was expanding DC's reach with younger generations and girls. The presentation also highlighted the upcoming Wonder Woman film that will open in Japan on August 25, as well as the Justice League film that will open in Japan on November 18. The Justice League film (seen right) will also feature DC heroes Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, and Cyborg.
Teshirogi's Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas - Meiō Shinwa manga ran from 2006 to 2011, and inspired two OVA series that totaled 26 episodes. Crunchyroll streamed the series, and Discotek released the series on DVD in November 2015. Teshirogi launched the Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas - Meiō Shinwa Gaiden in 2011, and ended it in April 2016.
