This year's June issue of Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine announced on Friday that Yoshiichi Akahito's Saisei no Phantasma manga will end in the July issue on June 12. The final chapter will have color pages.
The battle fantasy manga revolves around a criminal's daughter, Shumari, and the young man who became her bodyguard, Tōgo. When Shumari is attacked by human-eating ghouls, Tōgo, a super-powered "adept," appears.
Akahito launched the manga in July 2015 and Square Enix published the third compiled volume on March 22.
Akahito's previous series Corpse Princess (Shikabane Hime) launched in 2005 and ended in September 2014 after 23 volumes. Yen Press licensed the manga and is releasing the series digitally. The manga inspired two anime series, Shikabane Hime: Aka and Shikabane Hime: Kuro. FUNimation Entertainment licensed both and released them in North America as Corpse Princess. Madman Entertainment licensed both for Australia and New Zealand.
