New Nintendo 2DS XL Variant Announced for July Release

Nintendo announced on Thursday that it will begin offering a New Nintendo 3DS variant called the New Nintendo 2DS XL (LL in Japan) beginning on July 13 in Japan, and on July 28 in North America.
Like the New Nintendo 3DS XL, the new variant will offer the same 82% larger screen size in comparison to the original Nintendo 3DS, as well as new "ZL" and "ZR" shoulder buttons. The console will also have a faster processor, and will be compatible with Amiibos. The New Nintendo 2DS XL will be compatible with all Nintendo 3DS and some Nintendo DS games. Like the previous Nintendo 2DS variant, the XL version will not be able to display games with the 3D functionality.
The new variant has a suggested retail price of US$149.99 in North America, and 14,980 yen in Japan.
The Nintendo 3DS XL variant shipped in 2012, and the Nintendo 2DS variant shipped in 2013. The New Nintendo 3DS along with its XL variant shipped in 2014 in Japan, and in 2015 in North America. Nintendo revealed on Wednesday that it has sold 66.12 million Nintendo 3DS (and its variants) units worldwide.
