Shiena Nishizawa performs theme song for film opening on November 26

The official website for the Gekijō-ban KanColle (KanColle Movie Edition or Fleet Girls Collection Movie Sequence) anime film began streaming the film's trailer on Thursday. The trailer reveals the film's cast and staff, and previews Shiena Nishizawa's theme song "Kikan" (Return).

The film's cast, listed without their affiliated roles on the film's website, includes:

Shinichiro Inoue is reprising his role as chief production supervisor, and Keizou Kusakawa is returning from the television series to direct the film at diomedéa. Kensuke Tanaka, who is credited with the original plan and concept, is also writing the film's script alongside Jukki Hanada. Hanada had written and overseen the scripts for the anime series. Mayuko Matsumoto and Naomi Ide are also returning to design the characters, and Tsutomu Miyazawa and Kōta Moroishi are returning as the mechanical designers.

Other staff members include:

Original Work: DMM.com POWERCHORD STUDIO / "KanColle" Unei Chinjufu
Music Production: Flying Dog
Producer: Satoshi Motonaga
Animation Producer: Shōta Amano
Distributor: Kadokawa

The film will open in Japan on November 26.

The final episode of the television anime series had also revealed in March 2015 that the television anime would get a sequel. The anime's official Twitter account later indicated that the movie and the sequel are separate projects that are going into production at the same time.

The TV anime series premiered in January 2015 and Crunchyroll streamed it as it aired in Japan. The series is set in a world where humanity has lost control of the seas. The threat that has taken over the seas is the "deep sea fleet." The only ones who can counter this threat are Kan-musume (literally, warship girls), girls who possess the spirit of naval vessels from days gone by. The base for the fleet arrayed against the "deep sea fleet" is Chinjufu. There, many various Kan-musume have gathered to live together and work hard everyday in training and other matters. One day, a Kan-musume arrives at Chinjufu. She is a special class of destroyer, and her name is Fubuki.

Kadokawa Games launched the original free-to-play browser game with the service provider DMM.com in April 2013. Kantai Collection Kai, a PlayStation Vita port of the game directed by the original browser game's producer and director Kensuke Tanaka, shipped in Japan in February after multiple delays.
