5pb. Games opened an official website for a video game adaptation of the anime New Game! on Thursday. The game, titled New Game! -The Challenge Stage!-, ships on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on January 26.
The game centers on the anime's protagonist, Aoba Suzukaze, a month after beginning her new job at game company, Eaglejump. Although she's gradually adjusting to the working world, there are still many things to learn. The company is currently developing an RPG called Fairy's Story, and while the main staff is working on the climax of the game, new hire Aoba suddenly finds herself serving as art director for a DLC story. Will the bewildered Aoba be able to smoothly transition to her important new role?
In addition to the "adventure" portion, the game will also have a "raising" portion where players can raise Aoba's parameters. These parameters will affect her route during the second half of the story, which will focus on Aoba's adventures with her new friends during a company field trip.
The game will retail for 7,300 yen (about US$71) for the standard edition or 10,300 yen (US$101) for the limited edition. Those who order the limited edition of the game will receive a figure of Aoba along with an original soundtrack. Those who pre-order the game will receive a DLC code for a bunny costume.
The voice acting cast from the anime will be returning for the game, featuring:
- Yūki Takada as Aoba Suzukaze
- Yōko Hikasa as Kō Yagami
- Ai Kayano as Rin Tōyama
- Megumi Yamaguchi as Hifumi Takimoto
- Megumi Toda as Hajime Shinota
- Ayumi Takeo as Yun Iijima
- Madoka Asahina as Nene Sakura
- Chitose Morinaga as Umiko Ahagon
- Eri Kitamura as Shizuku Hazuki
Crunchyroll began streaming the anime on July 4. The anime is based on Shōtarō Tokunō's manga.
