posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The official website for the television anime of Atami Michinoku's Fudanshi Kōkō Seikatsu (Rotten Boys' High School Life) manga began streaming a promotional video for the show on Friday.
The anime's official website has also announced that the series will stream outside of Japan on Crunchyroll and bilibili.
The anime will premiere on July 5 on the AT-X channel at 10:55 p.m., and will also air on the Teletama, KBS Kyoto, tvk, and Sun TV channels. Each episode will be five minutes long.
The show's cast includes:
- Wataru Hatano as Sakaguchi
- Kenji Nojima as Nakamura, "Sakaguchi's (normal) friend"
- Aya Suzaki as Rumi Nishihara, a female fujoshi
- Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Yūjirō Shiratori, Sakaguchi's gay friend
- Toshiki Masuda as Akira Ueda, Shiratori's servant who has a crush on his boss and will do anything for him
- Kōtarō Nishiyama as Daigo, Sakaguchi's schoolmate and another fudanshi
- Katsuhiro Tokuishi as Keiichi Miyazaki
- Norihito Hase as Reiji Tosaki
- Yuiko Tatsumi as Kana-chan
The comedy depicts the daily life of Sakaguchi, a high school boy and also a "fudanshi" who loves boys-love stories. Fudanshi is a wordplay on fujoshi (literally, "rotten girls") — the slang for women who love boys-love/yaoi stories.
Toshikatsu Tokoro (Moeyo Ken, Soul Link) is directing the anime at EMT Squared (Kumamiko) and Chika Ishida is designing the characters. Nobuyuki Abe is directing the sound at Dax Production. Dream Creation is producing. Hatano will perform the show's theme song "Sekai wa Boy Meets Boy♂" (The World is Boy Meets Boy) as his character Sakaguchi.
The manga launched on Ichijinsha's web site Zero-Sum Online on May 1, 2015, and Ichijinsha published the manga's second compiled volume on April 25.
