2 short episodes to stream for limited time

The official website for the Re: Life in a different world from zero (Re: Zero Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu) television anime series began streaming the third episode of Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Break Time on Tuesday.

The spinoff anime short series airs after each episode of the main anime's airing. The episode will be available online until May 10 at 6:00 p.m. JST.

In the beginning of the episode, Puck apologizes to Emilia for falling asleep at an important time, but Emilia tells him it's OK since everyone is safe. Emilia changes the subject and mentions how it was the first time she'd ever seen Reinhard swing a sword and how strong he was. They start talking about what kinds of Protections he might have, including a Protection that stops him from being back-attacked and a Protection that allows him to die at least once without consequence. Puck then jokes that maybe he has a Protection of not mistaking salt for sugar, and Emilia says she wishes she had that power. However, Puck says that because Emilia's face when she fails at cooking is funny, she doesn't need it.

The two then begin talking about Subaru. Because Subaru only asked for Emilia's name in return for doing something for her, and because of his manner of clothing, Emilia notes that Subaru is quite strange. Puck says that he definitely felt Subaru's desperation for Emilia, and talks about how angry Subaru became when Erza attacked Emilia. The two decide that even though he looks suspicious, he's actually a good person.

The shorts feature the main television anime's cast members, including Yūsuke Kobayashi as Subaru Natsuki, Rie Takahashi as Emilia, and Yumi Uchiyama as Puck.

Minoru Ashina (Lord Marksman and Vanadis ONA, Boku, Otaryman, Agriculture Angel Baraki) is serving as director, scriptwriter, and producer of the shorts at Studio Puyukai. Minoru Takehara (Lord Marksman and Vanadis ONA) is designing the super-deformed characters and is also credited with the animation.

The Re: Life in a different world from zero anime premiered on April 3.

Masaharu Watanabe (Wakaba Girl director, episode director for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) is directing the anime at Studio White FOX. Masahiro Yokotani (Maria Holic, both seasons of Free!, SHIMONETA: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn’t Exist) is handling the series composition, and Kyuta Sakai (Steins;Gate, Sankarea: Undying Love, Humanity Has Declined) is designing the characters and serving as chief animation director.

The anime is inspired by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrator Shinichirou Otsuka's light novel series of the same name, which Yen Press will publish in North America along with a manga adaptation. In the story, Subaru Natsuki is an ordinary high school student who is lost in an alternate world, where he is rescued by a beautiful, silver-haired girl. He stays near her to return the favor, but the destiny she is burdened with is more than Subaru can imagine. Enemies attack one by one, and both of them are killed. He then finds out he has the power to rewind death, back to the time he first came to this world. But only he remembers what has happened since.
