Bananya TV Anime Launches in July Starring Yuuki Kaji
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Stationery maker company Q-LiA announced on Thursday that the television anime adapting its Bananya banana cat mascot character will premiere in July, and it will star Yūki Kaji (Attack on Titan's Eren) as the titular character.
Kyō Yatate (Sockie's Frontier Quest) is directing the anime at TMS Entertainment and Gathering. Yatate is also scripting and producing the anime alongside Masahiro Takata (Super Seisyun Brothers director, scriptwriter). Jun Mita (Mobile Suit Gundam-san) is serving as animation director, Kōichi Yokojin is the director of photography, and Nobuyuki Abe (Ai no Kusabi remake) is the sound director.
TMS Entertainment's booth at Anime Japan will screen a comment from Kaji and will also screen a promotional video for the anime on March 26-27.
Q-LiA had announced last month that it would launch a crowdfunding campaign to fund the anime. The show's official website has not yet confirmed if it will still host a crowdfunding campaign.
Q-LiA launched the Bananya mascot character last year. Another Q-LiA mascot character, Shizuku-chan, previously received three television anime adaptations, including Pururun! Shizuku-chan in 2006, Pururun! Shizuku-chan Aha in 2007, and Picchipichi Shizuku-chan in 2012.
