Moto Hagio, Yū Hatano Launch Tenshi Kamoshirenai Manga Series
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The April issue of Shueisha's YOU magazine is announcing on Tuesday that Moto Hagio will write a new manga series titled Tenshi Kamoshirenai (Might be an Angel). Yū Hatano ("Saru no Te" short story in the Kanbi de na Grimm Dōwa: Ai no Dorei anthology manga) is drawing the manga. The work will mark the first time in Hagio's 47-year career that she is providing the original story for a work that she herself is not also drawing. The new manga will debut in the May issue of YOU, which Shueisha will publish on April 15.
The magazine describes the manga as a "a slightly mysterious omnibus fantasy."
In 2012, the Japanese government awarded Hagio the Medal With Purple Ribbon, which honors academic and artistic achievement. She launched her ongoing manga Ōhi Marugo (Queen Margot) manga later that year. Shueisha published the manga's fourth compiled book volume on January 25.
Hagio's They Were Eleven, A Drunken Dream and Other Stories, A,A', and The Heart of Thomas manga have English releases. Fantagraphics Books, who published A Drunken Dream and Other Stories and The Heart of Thomas, will also release a hardcover edition of Hagio's Otherworld Barbara manga on August 21.
Update: Confirmed illustrator's first name is romanized as Yū, not Hiroshi.
