Tony Luke Passes Away
posted on by Andrew Osmond
Tony Kuroizumi-Luke, formerly Tony Luke, the British creator of the "Dominator" character, died on Wednesday February 17.
A longtime fan of anime, Luke created the character of Dominator (pictured left), a demonic 'samurai yokai.' Although the character first appeared in 1988 in the British magazine Metal Hammer, it later appeared in a strip in a Japanese manga magazine, Afternoon, published by Kodansha.
Luke also drew a comic, Hellkatt, which was printed on the inside sleeves of the Manga Entertainment 12-part videotape release of The Guyver.
His other works included a stop-motion pilot film of the 2000 AD character Nemesis the Warlock; a short film, Archangel Thunderbird; and animated versions of Dominator. He was also a music performer.
He was born in 1970, though his exact birthdate is not confirmed as of writing. He later renamed himself Tony Kuroizumi-Luke.
