Fields Corporation, the parent company of Tsuburaya Productions Co., Ltd., revealed in a financial presentation on February 1 that a new Ultraman series will premiere in July. The report did not mention any other information about the new series.
The report did add that the Ultraman X series (pictured at right) has received approximately 400 million views for its overseas simulcast. The Ultraman X television series premiered in Japan on July 14, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired.
An Ultraman X film will premiere in Japan on March 12.
Tsuburaya Productions Co., Ltd. streamed an Ultra Series teaser video last month as part of a project that marks the 50th anniversary of the Ultra Series. The Ultra Series began on January 2, 1966 with Ultra Q. The teaser ended with the words "What's Next…?"
In July, Tsuburaya streamed a mysterious region-locked "ULTRAMAN_n/a" video with no description, featuring a CG-rendered first-generation Ultraman fighting a kaijū in Tokyo's Shibuya ward. The video features English text on the screen, stating "In a time of destruction / He returns / The ultimate battle begins." The video ends with the text "7.7". Tsuburaya Productions Co., Ltd. founder Eiji Tsuburaya was born on July 7, 1901.
