Macross Delta TV Anime Gets Manga Series Next Spring

The February issue of Ichijinsha's Comic Rex magazine announced on Saturday that Shion Mizuki will launch a manga adaptation of the upcoming Macross Delta television anime next spring. The staff of the anime series itself have yet to announce in which season the anime will air, although the "all-but-complete" first 25-minute episode will run during a preview special on New Year's Eve. The anime is the next major project in the Macross science-fiction franchise, which debuted in 1982.
In the new Macross Delta anime, five girls form the "Tactical Music Unit" Walküre, the first major songstress group in the Macross anime franchise. (Macross 7 had the Jamming Birds group, and The Macross Digital Mission VF-X game had the group Milky Dolls.) The Walküre group battles the Var Syndrome that is consuming the galaxy, and there is also the mysterious Aerial Knights Valkyrie fighter team of the Kingdom of Wind.
