International television channel Animax Asia revealed on its Facebook page on Tuesday that it will begin airing the MAOYU TV anime series on the channel on September 8.
Animax Asia describes the series:
In a world embroiled by war between Humans and Demons, the Humans' greatest Hero successfully invaded the Demon King's castle, in hopes of defeating him. However, who Hero met, was definitely not what he was expecting – the Queen. Instead of receiving any retaliation from her, Hero was met with a proposal to form alliance. The Queen's explanation to Hero was that if the war comes to a sudden end, it can bring about further chaos to the world. The Humans, who were united as they stood against their common enemies, would eventually start fighting amongst themselves. This will carry on with similar issues that are already occurring at the Demon Realm.
Convinced by the Queen, Hero then joins forces with her to execute a plan that will bring about prosperity and a lasting peace to both races. If successful, this will bring an end to the war. However, if this plan falls through, both Queen and Hero will be branded as traitors and be executed.
Animax Asia will begin airing MAOYU with its first two episodes on August 8 at 9:00 p.m. in Indonesia and Thailand, and at 10:00 p.m. in Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, and Hong Kong. The channel will air four episodes every week (two episodes each on Monday and Tuesday) in the same time slots.
MAOYU premiered in Japan in January 2013. The series is based on Mamare Touno's light novel series of the same name. Touno (Log Horizon) began the story as an online novel on the 2channel forum before Enterbrain began publishing the series in 2010. The series' first five volumes have sold more than 450,000 copies, and there are also Episode 1: Nire no Kuni no Jo-Mahō Tsukai (The Sorceress of the Country of Elm), Episode 0: Sakyū no Kuni no Yumi-zukai (The Archer of the Country of Dunes), and Episode 2: Hana no Kuni no Onna Kishi (The Woman Knight of the Country of Flowers) spinoff novels. The series has also received several manga adaptations.
