This year's 17th issue of Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine will publish the final chapter of Sakurako Gokurakuin's Sekirei manga on Friday. The chapter will have a color opening page. The September issue of Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine also announced on August 12 that Gokurakuin will launch a new manga series titled Kaisei no Caricature (A Caricature of Reincarnation) in the magazine's next issue, which Square Enix will publish on September 12.
The magazine teases Kaisei no Caricature:
An academy juvenile fantasy from the Sekirei's Sakurako Gokurakuin begins!Say your goodbyes to this fake world.
Gokurakuin is credited for the original idea, setting, and storyboarding for Kaisei no Caricature, while Hiromu Mogi (Fushigi Tsūshin Toilet no Hanako-san) will write the story. Sora Gōto (Tokyo Mono Hara Shi: Karasu no Mori Gakuen Kitan - Hagi no Shigure) will draw the manga.
Gokurakuin launched the Sekirei manga in Young Gangan in 2004. She previously announced in the manga's 17th volume in March that the series would end in its 18th volume. The series inspired a television anime in 2008, followed by the Sekirei: Pure Engagement sequel in 2010. Funimation has released both anime in North America. Yen Press announced in July that it will release the Sekirei manga digitally.
The manga's story begins when Minato Sahashi, a hapless man who has failed at getting into college or getting a love life, suddenly meets a beautiful girl named Musubi. Minato learns he can become an Ashikabi, a master of the 108 artificial, humanlike creatures in the Sekirei Project that will fight each other to their dying breaths. Musubi happens to be a Sekirei herself.
