PS4/PS Vita "sideview RPG" project re-unites Valkyrie Profile, Star Ocean developers

This week's issue of Kadokawa's Weekly Famitsu magazine is running a 14-page special preview on game developer Spike Chunsoft and Tri-Ace's new "sideview RPG," Exist Archive -The Other Side of the Sky-, on Thursday. Art by the game's character designer Tarō Minoboshi adorns the issue's front and back cover.

The article detail the game's story, characters, and world, as well as the game's side-view dungeons and combat system. The announcement also reveals the game's main staff. Tri-Ace's Masaki Norimoto (Star Ocean, Valkyrie Profile series game design) is helming the project, and is also writing the game's scenario. Current Tri-Ace representative director Yoshiharu Gotanda (Star Ocean: The Last Hope, Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria main R&D programmer) is serving as the project's lead R&D programmer. Minoboshi (formerly LovePlus character designer Mino☆Tarō) designed the characters, while Motoi Sakuraba (Star Ocean, Valkyrie Profile, Tales of series) is composing the music. Spike Chunsoft's Yuichiro Saito (Fushigi no Chronicle) is credited as producer. The magazine is publishing comments from the main staff on Thursday.

The game is slated for release this year on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.

Spike Chunsoft launched a teaser site last Friday for the game. The site features a countdown to a new keyword, which updated on Saturday to reveal the names of Norimoto, Sakuraba, and Minoboshi as scenario writer, composer, and character designer, respectively. A new countdown on the site will reveal the title at midnight July 30 JST (11:00 a.m. EDT on July 29), coinciding with the Weekly Famitsu street date.
