Sentai Filmworks to Release 1978 Gatchman Film With English Dub

Section23 Films announced in its November release slate on Tuesday that Sentai Filmworks has licensed the 1978 film Kagaku Ninja-Tai Gatchaman as Science Ninja Team Gatchaman - The Movie. The company will add an English dub that will be consistent with the television series.
The film is slated for release on Blu-ray and DVD on November 17.
Sentai Filmworks describes the story, which is an alternate retelling of the television series:
The Earth is in peril and Mankind seems doomed! Led by the sinister mutant Berg Katse, the international terrorist organization known as GALACTOR has launched its armies of henchmen and giant weapons of mass destruction against the entire planet. But the forces of evil are about to meet their match! Utilizing incredible fighting techniques, and with the mighty ship God Phoenix at their command, the Science Ninja Team stands ready to take the battle back to the bad guys and their evil alien overlords! Join Ken the Eagle, Joe the Condor, Jun the Swan, Jinpei the Swallow, and Ryu the Owl, as these five costumed commandos join with their commander, Dr. Nambu, to save our world the old fashioned way: one flying kick at a time!
Sentai Filmworks released the entire original Gatchaman television anime series bundled with the three-episode 1994-95 OVA series on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in 2013. The company also released the OVA series separately on DVD only.
In addition to the Gatchaman film, Section 23 is planning to release the Angelic Layer complete collection on DVD on November 24 as part of its Sentai Selects line. The series was previously released by ADV Films.
The He Is My Master anime is also getting a rerelease under the Sentai Selects label this November.
