Anime Expo: New Record Set With 90,500 Unique Attendees
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Anime Expo's official website reported on Monday that it had more than 90,500 unique attendees at this year's event, up 12% from 2014 and setting a new attendance record for the convention.
In addition, it reported a turnstile attendance of 260,700, up 18% from 2014.
The turnstile attendance has doubled since 2011, which saw more than 47,000 unique attendees and a turnstile attendance of over 128,000. Anime Expo reported over 61,000 unique attendees and a turnstile attendance of over 161,000 in 2013.
"Unique attendees" is the number of attendees regardless of how many days they attend, so a person who uses a four-day pass is counted once. "Turnstile attendance" is the number of attendees on each day added together, so a person who uses a four-day pass is counted four times.
This year's Anime Expo took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from July 2-5.
