Masashi Kishimoto Wins 'Rookie of the Year' Award for Naruto

The Japanese government's Agency for Cultural Affairs announced the winners of the 2014 "Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Fine Arts Recommendation Awards" on Thursday, and awarded Masashi Kishimoto a "Rookie of the Year" award in the media fine arts category for Naruto.
Kishimoto began serializing Naruto in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1999, and ended the series in November. The ninja manga is Kishimoto's first completed series.
The awards honor the achievements of people in the fields of theater, film, music, dance, literature, visual art, broadcasts, public entertainment, art promotion, critique, and Media Arts. Winners receive a certificate and monetary award. The awards ceremony will be held on March 18 at 4:00 p.m. at the Toshi Center Hotel.
