Oreca Battle Manga Ends, New Series to Start
posted on by Karen Ressler
This year's March issue of Shogakukan's Coro Coro Comics published the final chapter of Konami and Satoshi Yamaura's Monster Retsuden Oreca Battle (Monster Chronicles Oreca Battle) manga on Saturday. The seventh and final volume of the manga will ship in Japan on March 27.
The magazine also announced that a new Oreca Battle series, titled Maō Da Ze! Oreca Battle (It's the Demon King! Oreca Battle, pictured below), will begin in the April issue on March 14. The April issue will contain the first two chapters.
Yamaura launched the first manga based on Konami's Monster Retsuden Oreca Battle arcade card game in Bessatsu Coro Coro Comic in 2012, but the manga then switched to the main Coro Coro Comics magazine.
The franchise has inspired two other manga spinoffs in Coro Coro Comics: Hideki Gotō's gag manga Daishūgō! Oretachi Oreca!! (Big Gathering! We are Oreca!!) and Posuka Demizu's Oreca Monsters Bōken Retsuden (Oreca Monsters Adventure Chronicles).
Crunchyroll streams the anime adaptation and describes the story:
The anime adaptation revolves around a young boy named Faiya Orega who loves Oreca competitions. One day, he is granted the power to summon real Oreca monsters due to the mysterious powers of the treasure chest Pandora. To protect the peace of the Oreca world, Faiya must fight the demon king who threatens the land.
