Sega Hires Executive to Adapt Its Games in Hollywood
posted on by Sarah Nelkin
The entertainment trade news source Variety is reporting that Sega has hired Evan Cholfin, a former executive of Break Media, to orchestrate film, television, and digital entertainment projects based on Sega's various video game properties. Cholfin is the head of development and production at Tokyo-based Stories International, which is a joint business between Sega and advertising agency Hakuhodo DY Group.
Stories is starting with plans to adapt Shinobi, Crazy Taxi, Rise of Nightmares, Streets of Rage, and Altered Beast into English-language live-action and animated projects. Virtua Fighter and Golden Axe are also among the Sega properties available for adaptation.
Sega is also investing in All Nippon Entertainment Works. ANEW was founded in November 2011 by the Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ) to introduce Japanese properties to a global market in collaboration with other companies.
Sega began airing a Sonic Boom animated series based on its Sonic the Hedgehog character in North America and France last month.
