Video game hardware design company Hori will ship its Taiko no Tatsujin (Taiko: Drum Master) controller on December 4 for 27,593 yen (about US$240) or 29,800 yen (US$259) including tax. The controller — which is shaped like a taiko drum and comes with two bachi (taiko drumsticks), a stand, and a mat — is 36x30x12 centimeters (about 14x12x5 inches) and weighs 2.5 kilograms (about 5.5 pounds).
The controller is compatible with both Nintendo Wii and Nintendo Wii U, and it will ship two weeks after a new Wii U game in the Taiko no Tatsujin series ships on November 20. This new game, Taiko no Tatsujin: Tokumori! (Taiko: Drum Master: Extra Large Portion!), will come with a standard, smaller controller.
The most recent game in the series, Taiko no Tatsujin: Don to Katsu no Jikū Daibōken for Nintendo 3DS, shipped in Japan on June 26. Namco released Taiko no Tatsujin on PlayStation 2 in North America in 2004 as Taiko: Drum Master.
