posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Sega announced on Monday that it is releasing its Valkyria Chronicles PlayStation 3 tactical role-playing game on the PC. Sega did not provide any more details about the release date or price.
The Pan European Game Information (PEGI) board had rated Valkyria Chronicles at PEGI16 for personal computers on October 16.
Sega released the original game in Japan, Europe, and North America in 2008. Sega released two sequel games on the PlayStation Portable in 2010 and 2011 in Japan. Valkyria Chronicles II received a Western release, but Valkyria Chronicles III did not. The third game received an original video anime adaptation in 2011.
The original game inspired a 26-episode television anime series by A-1 Pictures in 2009. Crackle is streaming the series in the U.S.
The story of the original game and anime is set in the wartorn country of Gallia in a fictional version of 1930s Europe. When Imperial forces attack the small border town of Bruhl, Welkin Gunther, son of late General Belgen Gunther, is forced to fight for his life alongside Town Watch captain Alicia Melchiott. Along with Welkin's adopted sister Isara, the three escape to Gallia's capitol and subsequently join the country's militia forces.
Udon Entertainment has released artbooks for all three games.
