Nintendo and Platinum Games director Yūsuke Hashimoto and producer Akiko Kuroda announced during its Bayonetta 2 Nintendo Direct streaming event on Thursday that the game will go on sale for the Wii U in North America and Europe on October 24.
The "non-stop climax action" game follows Bayonetta as she tries to rescue her friend Jeanne, whose soul was dragged into Inferno. The character faces both Angels and Demons during her journey.
Bayonetta 2 will include an online two-player co-op mode called Tag Climax. Players can choose between playable characters, including Bayonetta, Rodin, and Jeanne.
The game will also have alternate costumes and corresponding attacks from Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, Metroid, and Starfox properties.
Platinum Games and Sega released the first action game on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Japan in October 2009 and then in North America in January 2010. The original release of the first game only had English dubbing — even in Japan — but Bayonetta 2 will have Japanese dubbing. Atsuko Tanaka voices the title character as she does in the Bayonetta: Bloody Fate anime film.
