Kadokawa began streaming an official English-subtitled trailer for the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Mari Matsuzawa's Saikin, Imōto no Yōsu ga Chotto Okashiin Da Ga. (Recently, my sister is unusual.) manga on Wednesday. Kadokawa translates the title of the film as "What's going on with my sister?"
The trailer features the theme song "How's It Going?" by the female lead character Mitsuki Kanzaki.
Fashion model and idol Tenka Hashimoto stars in the live-action film. Hashimoto, who also goes by the name "Tenchim," has scenes of full nudity in the film, and popular photo idol Mayu also has her first fully nude scenes in a film. The project marks the directorial debut of Yuki Aoyama, a young photographer known for the photo collection Schoolgirl Complex.
There is also a television anime based on the manga. The story revolves around a girl named Mitsuki Kanzaki, who lives with her step-brother Yūya after her mother remarries. One day, Mitsuki is possessed by the self-proclaimed spirit of a young girl, Hiyori Kotobuki. Hiyori (in Mitsuki's body) must fall in love with Yūya to move toward the "Gates of Heaven."
The film will open in Japan on May 17, and theaters are selling advance tickets, each with one of eight randomly distributed, "slightly amusing" photographs. Crunchyroll streamed the anime series outside of Japan as it aired earlier this year.
