Yo-Kai Watch Anime Offered to Broadcasters & Licensees in the Americas
posted on by Egan Loo
Dentsu Entertainment USA announced on Tuesday that it is offering the Yōkai Watch television anime series to broadcast and merchandising partners in the Americas.
The story begins when Kēta discovers an old capsule toy vending machine in the forest. Kēta receives a mysterious watch and meets a ghost named Whisper. Whisper tells Kēta that the watch allows him to see supernatural creatures — both good and evil — that he could not see before in everyday life. With Whisper and his other companion Jibanyan, Kēta explores his town for other ghosts to battle or befriend.
Game developer Level-5 announced the Yōkai Watch franchise in 2011 with a game, manga, and anime already planned. The franchise's first game for the Nintendo 3DS debuted in Japan last July, and the anime premiered this past January.
Dentsu Entertainment USA also offered Little Battlers eXperience (LBX or Danbōru Senki) to the United States in 2011, and that led to a deal to run the anime on Nicktoons this year.
