Robot Girls Z Movie Version's Trailer Streamed
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Toei Animation began streaming a trailer on Thursday for the theatrical version of the Robot Girls Z anime series.
Toei will screen the anime in 10 theaters throughout Japan on May 31. The theaters will screen all nine episodes of the series that ran on the Toei Channel, as well as the new "minibokko" episode, titled "Hakunetsu! Chō Ginga Daisensō" (Climax! Super Galactic Great War) with guest stars "Imaichi Moenai Musume" and "Kore Janai Robo." The screening will also include other material.
The first of three Blu-ray Disc and DVD volumes for the television version will ship on June 13 with the first "minibokko" episode. Each of the three volumes will have one of these episodes.
The anime is the latest incarnation of Toei Robot Girls, the project that turns Dynamic Planning and Toei Animation's "legendary super robots into beautiful girls!!"
The stars of Robot Girls Z series are Z-chan, Gre-chan, and Grenda-san. Together they (try to) defend Photon Power Town from "the enemy, the mechanical beast girls of the underground empire." The villains are led by Baron Ashura, the underground emperor "bent on world domination(?)" — or at least, town domination.
Hiroshi Ikehata (original Toei Robot Girls, Ring ni Kakero 1: Sekai Taikai-hen) directed the anime, and Kazuho Hyodo (Tactical Roar) was in charge of the scripts. Tetsuya Kawakami (Shigofumi - Letters from the Departed, Toei Robot Girls) designed the characters.
Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan earlier this year.
