North American publisher Yen Press and Japanese publisher Square Enix announced on Monday that they are collaborating to release manga in English-language ebook form in over 200 countries. The 175 titles will be available via Amazon, Apple, Barnes & Noble, Google, and Kobo at the same time as their print releases.
The first titles are the following:
More titles will be available in April, including:
- Hiromu Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist
- Jun Mochizuki's Pandora Hearts
- Ryukishi07's Higurashi: When They Cry
- Hiroshi Takashige and DOUBLE-S's Until Death Do Us Part
Yen Press and Square Enix will also release new chapters of two ongoing manga series — Atsushi Ohkubo's Soul Eater Not! and Yoshiki Tonogai's Secret — starting on April 14. The two publisher are collaborating with Tuttle-Mori Agency on this initiative.
Yen Press previously offered Soul Eater Not! in its digial manga anthology Yen Plus until Yen Plus ended last December. Square Enix offered its manga though its own online manga service, but stopped the service last May. The two publishers had agreed to distribute manga in English digitally in 2012.
