FrontierWork's official YouTube channel began streaming the second promotional video and TV commercial for the Comic Artist & His Assistants anime.
The promotional video introduces additional characters and voice cast:
Yuka Iguchi (Nisemonogatari) as Rinna Fuwa
Minami Tanaka (Recently, my sister is unusual.) as Matome Minano
Miku Itō (Wanna Be the Strongest in the World) as Suino Sahoto
The idol group StylipS performs the anime's opening theme "Junsui na Fujunbutsu," (A Purely Impure Person) that is heard in the video, and also the ending theme titled "Spica."
The original manga tells the story of professional manga artist Yūki Aito and his professional/personal relationship with his assistant Sahoto Ashisu and other staffers.
The anime will premiere on Japanese television on April 8, and each episode will last approximately 13 minutes.
Takeshi Furuta (Giant Killing, Mobile Suit Gundam AGE episode director) will direct the series, Aki Itami (Flowers of Evil, Mushi-Shi) will write the scripts, and Hitomi Tsuruta (The Knight in the Area) will design the characters. Animation studio ZEXCS (D.C. ~Da Capo~, Flowers of Evil, Say, "I Love You".) will produce the series.
The four-panel slice-of-life comic began in 2008 and ended in 2012. Hiroyuki began the series again under the title Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to 2 in August. The 10th and final compiled volume of the original series shipped in 2012.
Another manga by Hiroyuki, Doujin Work, also inspired a television anime.
