Bushiroad Makes Card Game Comedy Anime Gigant Shooter Tsukasa
posted on by Egan Loo
Bushiroad announced that the new television anime Chō-Bakuretsu I-Jigen Menko Battle Gigant Shooter Tsukasa (Super Explosive Card Battle Gigant Shooter Tsukasa) will premiere on NHK's E-Tele channel on April 1. The slapstick comedy story revolves around "the 'passionate but crappy' elementary school life of the slightly annoying protagonist Tsukasa Mendō and his classmates." (Tsukasa's name can be a wordplay on the Japanese word for troublesome, "mendōkusai.") Tsukasa and his friends are heavily into a fictional card battle game called GIGANT Battle.
The cast includes:
- Kappei Yamaguchi as Tsukasa Mendō
- Sora Tokui as Miruko Koide
- Izumi Kitta as Manabu Numata
- Aimi as Ataru Dōmoto
- Tomohiro Yamaguchi as M. Kirito Kiritani
The series will contain a total of 32 episodes. The anime follows Tsukasa, whose dream is to become the best at GIGANT Shooter (battles in a game similar to pog) in the world. The menko card his father left for him called "King Menger" is his partner. Tsukasa's fellow gamers are the cute but tsundere Miruko Koide, the spectacled bully Manabu Numata, and the realist and sharp-tongued Ataru Dōmoto.
Ryōichi Mori (Peeping Life) is directing the anime at the studios Fanworks and Forest Hunting One. Toru Hosokawa (Polar Bear's Café) is writing the scripts, and Hideharu Mori (Ranma ½, Yawara! A Fashionable Judo Girl, Black Rock Shooter) is scoring the music. Psychic Lover will perform the opening theme song, "GIGANT Shooter Dacchū no!" (It's Called the GIGANT Shooter!), while the "mystery unit" GIGANT Girls will perform "Kimi ga Ichiban Tsutaetai Mono" (What You Most Want to Convey).
