Wild Adapter OVA's Third Promo Streamed
posted on by Karen Ressler
The official website for the OVA adaptation of Kazuya Minekura's Wild Adapter manga series began streaming a third promotional video on Monday. The video features the opening theme "Hyōryōsha" (Castaway) by Toshiyuki Morikawa and Hideo Ishikawa, who will play the two lead characters.
In the original manga by Kazuya Minekura (Saiyuki), a young gang leader named Makoto Kubota (Morikawa) takes in Minoru Tokitoh (Ishikawa), a boy with a mysterious past. Minoru has been exposed to the drug "W.A." which has transformed his right arm into a monstrous limb. The two investigate the origins of the drug that is devastating the city's underground.
The limited edition of the first volume, "Zen," will ship on March 26 in Japan and will include a special DVD sleeve case with an exclusive illustration by Minekura, audio commentaries by Morikawa and Ishikawa, a picture label, a special CD with an original drama specially written by Minekura and character messages, an exclusive booklet with cast interviews, and two bromide cards. The second volume, "Kou," will ship later in 2014.
The manga had originally launched in Tokuma Shoten's bimonthly Chara magazine in 2001, but then it switched publishers to Ichijinsha last year. The characters of Wild Adapter had appeared in Minekura's Shiritsu Araiso Kōtōgakkō Seitokai Shikkōbu (Araiso Private High School Student Council Executive Committee) manga and its 2002 video anime adaptation. Minekura began serializing her Saiyuki Reload Blast and Wild Adapter manga series on a reduced schedule earlier this year due to her health.
Tokyopop licensed the Wild Adapter manga in 2006 for release in North America. The company published six volumes before the company closed its North American publishing division.
