posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
The March issue of Kodansha's Kiss Plus magazine, which shipped on February 8, announced it is the publication's final issue. Furthermore, this year's eighth issue of Gekkan Shonen Magazine Plus, which ships on Thursday, announced that Gekkan Shonen Magazine Plus will also end.
Kodansha will launch a new magazine in mid-June focusing on "the fun of meeting for the first time" to replace Kiss Plus, as well as a new shonen magazine to replace Gekkan Shonen Magazine Plus this summer or fall. No further details on the new shonen magazine have been revealed, but Kodansha's Gekkan Shonen Magazine will publish follow-up information.
The magazine that will replace Kiss Plus will include suspended works from Tsunami Umino and new series from Yukari Koyama (Barairo no Seisen) and Yayoi Ogawa (Tramps Like Us). The following Kiss Plus series will continue in the new magazine:
- Tsukuroi Tatsu Hito by Aoi Ikeba
- Tsuka Rabo by Yumi Unita
- Kuragehime Gaiden: Barakura by Akiko Higashimura
- Tsunagu to Seiza ni Naru Yō ni by Sumako Kari
- Sayonara Shikyū by Yuki Okada
- Tōmei na Yurikago by Bakka Okita
- Ito Iro Toridori by Momo Hamana
Kodansha is currently planning more projects for the new magazine. The ad mentions that there will be many "firsts" such as a first genre challenge for a popular author and a first manga adaptation of a novel.
Kiss Plus was also serializing Fumi Fumiko's Jinkō Seirei Tarupa-chan, Aya Ishino's Santōsei no Spica, Jinwu Umemoto's Obata-kun, Fūka Mizutani's Michitemo Kaketemo, Autumn Tanaka's Shakumi, and Tomoe's Babapedia.
Gekkan Shonen Magazine Plus began in 2011 and is serializing, among other titles, Adachitoka's Noragami, Motohiro Katou's Q.E.D., Ouji Hiroi's Sakura Taisen, and a series based on the Sengoku Musou video game series.
