Kodansha Comics Announces Ema Toyama's Manga Dogs
posted on by Karen Ressler
North American manga publisher Kodansha Comics announced on Wednesday that it has licensed Ema Toyama's (Pixie Pop: Gokkun Pucho, I Am Here!, Watashi ni xx Shinasai!) GDGD-DOGS as Manga Dogs. The company plans to release the series this fall.
Kodansha Comics describes the story:
Kanna Tezuka is a serious 15-year-old manga artist, already being published as a pro. So when she finds out her high school is starting a manga drawing course, even she gets excited. But it's a fiasco! The teacher is useless, and the only other students — three pretty-boy artist wannabes — quickly adopt Kanna as their (unwilling) sensei. But they all have ridiculous delusions about being an artist, and if Kanna can't bring them back down to Earth, she'll never get any work done!
Toyama began the manga in the September 2010 issue of Kodansha's Aria magazine, and ended the series in this year's February issue. Kodansha shipped the third compiled volume in Japan earlier this month.
Kodansha Comics already publishes Toyama's award-winning Missions of Love (Watashi ni xx Shinasai!) in English, as well as Toyama's I Am Here! and Shugo Chara-chan!. Tokyopop previously published Toyama's Pixie Pop: Gokkun Pucho manga.
Update: Kodansha Comics stated that it can confirm a print release but not a digital release.
