This year's 28th issue of Gentosha's Comic Spica magazine launched the new manga series Mimi Koko Momo by Verno Mikawa last Tuesday. The gag comedy follows high school girls Mimi, Koko, and Momo. The three bored girls talk openly during their spare time after school.
Mikawa launched the slapstick detective manga Strange+ in Ichijinsha's Monthly Comic Zero-Sum magazine in 2002, and has been drawing it ever since. The series is inspiring two anime seasons by anime studio Seven. Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs in Japan.
Comic Spica also launched the new manga series Daikanyamachō-oki 3-ri by Haruko Okai. The child-raising comedy is set in the near future on a solitary island. It follows the coming-of-age of Akane, a girl living in an ancient shrine built on the island.
