Nintendo 3DS Sells Over 15 Million in Japan

Famitsu reported last Tuesday that over 15 million Nintendo 3DS consoles have sold in Japan since the system launched on February 26, 2011. The number includes Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL (LL in Japan) systems sold from February 26, 2011 to January 26, 2014. The site is also listing the top five games sold for the Nintendo 3DS:

1. Pokémon X & Y (4,228,244 units)
2. Animal Crossing: New Leaf (4,072,068 units)
3. Monster Hunter 4 (3,383,004 units)
4. New Super Mario Bros. 2 (2,250,416 units)
5. Mario Kart 7 (2,188,873 units)

Nintendo had sold 10 million 3DS consoles as of January 2013.
