posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Namco Bandai released the iOS version of its Tales of Phantasia game for iPad and iPhone in North America on Thursday. The game is free to play with additional add-ons available for purchase. The game includes voice-overs for "important events of the game," the main scenario, and battles, although it does not have the original opening theme song.
Tales of Phantasia is the first title in Namco Bandai's Tales of game franchise. It was released for the Super Nintendo console in 1995 and ported to the PlayStation, Gameboy Advance, and PlayStation Portable systems. It was adapted into a four-episode original anime video series in 2004 and licensed for North American release by Geneon Entertainment. Funimation re-released the OAV in 2008.
The game was released for iOS in Japan in September.
Namco Bandai Games will release Tales of Zestiria, the Tales of 20th anniversary title, worldwide for PlayStation 3 in the future. Band Do as Infinity is reportedly providing theme songs for upcoming mobile Tales of games this year.
