Lupin III vs. Detective Conan Tops Conan Films' Box Office Record

Oricon reported on Wednesday that Lupin III vs. Detective Conan The Movie has earned 3,636,500,850 yen (about US$34.7 million) in theaters and sold 3,088,143 tickets as of January 7. The film has topped the 3.61-billion-yen (US$34.4 million) box office gross of Detective Conan: Private Eye in the Distant Sea, the Detective Conan franchise's highest-grossing film until now.
The franchise is getting a tentatively titled "Edogawa Conan Shissō Jiken ~Shijō Saiaku no Ichinishi" (The Disappearance of Conan Edogawa: The Worst Day in History) special. The next film, Detective Conan: Ijigen no Sniper (Detective Conan: Sniper From Another Dimension), will open in Japan on April 19.
