posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Keroro, the new Flash television anime based on Mine Yoshizaki's Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunsō) manga, will premiere on the Animax channel on March 22.
Haruki Kasugamori (DD Hokuto no Ken original concept, Ketsu-Inu director) will be directing the anime at animation studio Sunrise. Animation studio Gathering (Donyatsu, PUCHIM@S) will be providing assistance with the animation.
The cast of the first Sgt. Frog anime will be returning for the new anime.
Funimation has licensed the first three seasons of Sgt. Frog and released them on DVD in North America, after ADV Films had licensed but not released the anime. The original Sgt. Frog anime with fifteen-minute episodes ran for seven years, from 2004 to 2011 on TV Tokyo, and it spawned five feature films. American manga publisher Tokyopop released twenty volumes of the original manga in North America before shutting its doors in 2011.
